Full Itinerary

Your Travel Route:  Lusaka – Kafue town – Kafue bridge –  Turn Pike – Mazabuka – Monze – Lochinvar National Park 

05:00 am: Travel advice: So, from your home in Lusaka, kindly find your way to StayEasy Lusaka Hotel ( GPS INFORMATION S 15 24′ 10” E 28 17′ 7”) in the central business district (CBD) of Lusaka at Levy Mall junction.
What will happen: In the Car Park of StayEasy Hotel, you will find and meet the trip leader waiting for you in the wearing a Lochinvar Safaris branded uniform or name tag. After some formal introduction formalities, you will receive a short briefing from the Trip Leader on some pertinent issues such as important travel information and safety issues.
Friendly advice:   Please  be on time at StayEasy Lusaka Hotel car park. Otherwise you will find the Lochinvar Safaris team gone without you.
Program of activities on day one (1)
Phase I
06:30 am: This whole exciting journey will start from the beautiful and centrally located StayEasy Lusaka Hotel. StayEasy Hotel is situated on the corner of Church and Kabelenga Roads in Lusaka city within Levy Shopping Mall yard.
Starting point: Please note that StayEasy Hotel  car park is the official meeting place/venue for the commencement of this exciting 4 -day Lochinvar Holiday Package tour.
 
Further travel advice:  Please get the Lochinvar Safaris contact phone details a day before the commencement of the safari tour. This will enable you to call our staff on phone just in case you delay to reach StayEasy Hotel on the day of travelling. The Trip Leader will decide whether to wait for you at StayEasy Hotel or make any alternative arrangements so that you do not miss out on this exciting trip.
 
Phase II of the journey
07:30 am: Commencement of the tour: Thereafter all the travel formalities, you will board the tour vehicle and travel by road from Lusaka to Monze via the T-2 Kafue Road and the T-1 Livingstone road.
09:50 am: After Kafue town, we will head to one of Zambian’s unique natural landmark; the Kafue River and state-of-art Kafue Road Bridge. The vehicle will slow down on the Kafue Bridge. Narration: You will have a chance to have a closer view of the Kafue River. Kafue is one of the main rivers of Zambia, the main source and water supply to the greater Lusaka city population. The tour guide will be close by to provide more detailed information on these two important landmarks.
Second stop-over: Munali Pass National Monument
Along the main T-1 Livingstone tourism route, you will visit the Munali Hills Pass historic site. It is situated about 56km north of Mazabuka, a stone cairn 1km along the Munali Pass road. This monument is a commemoration of Dr. David Livingstone’s passage through the hill pass that separates the Lusaka high plateau from the Kafue Flats.
Turn-Pike Turn Off: At Turn Pike junction, we will branch off from the T-2 Kafue road and turn into the T-1 Livingstone road. By the road-side, we will briefly stop-over by the lay-bye to buy some fresh bananas and apples.
In-transit breakfast: You will be served with some breakfast whilst in transit to Mazabuka.
10:20 am: Munali Hills Pass route: You will experience the true Zambian culture of this beautiful country along the way to Mazabuka. The vehicle will wind its way through beautiful landscape, passing through some green commercial farms, traditional African villages and schools along the way to Mazabuka.
11:30 am – Arrive in Mazabuka, dubbed “The Sweetest Town” in Zambia. This is because sugar canes that are processed into edible household sugar are grown on a large scale in Mazabuka.
11:40 am – Depart for Monze, the next town after Mazabuka. You will see large sugar plantations on the way out of Mazabuka town. You will pass a number of small village siding settlements along the way to Monze, approximately 72 kms from Mazabuka.
13:20 pm: Arrive in Monze: – An agriculture town, with an estimated population of 163,578 people.
13:30 pm: Eat a sumptuous lunch at Food Royal or the Indian Classic Food Restaurant or at any other upmarket restaurant in Monze town.

14:30 pm –  Travel to and visit the Samu Lya Moomba national heritage site outside Monze town in Bweengwa area, Chief CHOONGO’s chiefdom to see Zambia’s deep cultural heritage.

Narration (information tip): Samu Lya Moomba holds a special place in Zambia’s history as it was the location some freedom fighters from across Zambia would meet to strategize on the attainment of Zambia’s political independence. After touring Samu Lya Moomba, you will leave the Samu Lya Moomba site and travel to the Lochinvar National Park a distance of about 45 kms.
Arrive at the entrance of Lochinvar: Enter the Lochinvar National and proceed to Lochinvar Bush Camp inside the Lochinvar National Park. Time allowing you will visit tyhe Gwisho Hot Springs and the Baobab tree.
18:30 pm: Take your dinner
19:30 pm: Relax by the born fire
21:30 pm: Retire to bed to sleep.
NOTES: The Lochinvar Holiday Package is exclusively a camping holiday package. This means that you will sleep in tents inside the Lochinvar National Park

Program of the day

07:30 am: Wake up from Campsite in the Chunga Lagoon situated on the banks of Kafue River. Thereafter you will take your sumptuous breakfast.

08:30 am: You will then leave for  a walking safari along the riverine of the Kafue River.

09:30 am – 10:30 am:  Enter into the Chunga Lagoon inside the Lochinvar National Park for game and bird viewing.

12:30 pm -14:00 pm: Return to the campsite for lunch.

14:00 pm  –  Proceed to various Inner places  in Chunga lagoon for more wildlife viewing.

19:00 pm – 21:30 pm:  Evening dinner and relaxation with friends.

21:00 pm:  Retire to bed to sleep.

Sequence of events on this day

Wake in the morning and take your sumptuous breakfast at the lodge.

Narration: You will depart from Lochinvar National Park back to Lusaka.

Final Phase: Arrive in Lusaka, capital city of Zambia at LEVY MALL JUNCTION

  1. Transport from Levy Mall Junction to/from Lochinvar National Park and return to Lusaka.
  2. Meals and mineral water during the tour.
  3. Safari Tent accommodation at a campsite in the Chunga Lagoon inside the Lochinvar National Park
  4. Activities listed in the itinerary.
  1. Non Zambians are excluded from booking and undertaking this tour. Proof of being a Zambian citizen by showing your green national registration card is a mandatory requirement before booking this tour.
  2. Alcoholic beverages are excluded in this package
  3. Any activities not listed in the package.
  4. The duration of this package cannot extended be without consulting Lochinvar Safaris.
  5. Transport to and from your home to Levy Mall junction to commence/end your tour. 
  6. Deviation to any other destination not listed in this itinerary.

Travel Advice:

Kindly travel light but carry adequate clothing for travelling, and for walking around, and game viewing. You must to pack their mosquito repellant as we are still a wet season full of mosquitoes everywhere in Zambia. Masking up in public places is no longer a requirement in Zambia.

Other items to carry include:

  1. Please carry your Zambian National Registration Card (NRC). This is a mandatory requirement for you to be able to enter the Kafue National Park. 
  2. Comfortable walking shoes and open sandals.
  3. Full sleeve less bright colored tops for game viewing excursion.
  4. Umbrellas and if possible a hat to protect them from sunshine just in case it gets hot. Carry jersey just in case it gets cold. Carry also just one or two light blankets in case of a car breakdown.
  5. Small bottle of sanitizers, small bottle of glycerin and personal tower.
  6. Any other personal items for your convenience such as ATM, Visa cards e.t.c. In case you want special wine and drinks to celebrate their holiday, you are better off buying them in Lusaka where it is cheap as compared to Kafue National Park. Getting smaller cooler box will not be a bad idea as well to cool off your drinks. Please you must not forget their toast paste and tooth brushes.

Cancellation and Refunds:

  • 2 months before departure date: Full refund of the money paid.
  • 1 month before departure date: 50% refund of the money already paid.
  • 1 – 15 days before departure date:  30% refund of the money already paid
  • 14 – 1 day before departure date: No refund (Customer loses money already paid)
