Full Itinerary

Your Travel Route:  Lusaka – Kafue – Mazabuka –  Monze – Choma – Kalomo – Livingstone. 

Introduction. This is an exciting day of you travelling by road from Lusaka to Livingstone, tourism capital of Zambia. 

Order of the program.

Pick-up point is LEVY MALL JUNCTION in Lusaka, capital city of Zambia.

06:30 am: You will be picked from the parking yard of Levy Mall junction in front of StayEasy Hotel Lusaka. Accompanied by our tour guide and driver, you will travel south wards using our vehicle on the Lusaka – Livingstone (T-1 and T-2) road. The final destination will be Livingstone.

NOTE: Please be at LEVY MALL congregation point outside StayEasy Hotel by 06:00 am in order to attend the briefing session.

Accommodation: You will stay and sleep in nice and comfortable Lodges in Livingstone.

07:30 am: Commencement of the tour: Thereafter all the travel formalities, you will board the tour vehicle and travel by road from Lusaka to Choma via the T-2 Kafue Road and the T-1 Livingstone road.
09:50 am: After Kafue town, we will head to one of Zambian’s unique natural landmark; the Kafue River and state-of-art Kafue Road Bridge. The vehicle will slow down on the Kafue Bridge. You will have a chance to have a closer view of the Kafue River. Kafue is one of the main rivers of Zambia, the main source and water supply to the greater Lusaka city population. The tour guide will be close by to provide more detailed information on these two important landmarks.
Second stop-over: Munali Pass National Monument
Along the main T-1 Livingstone tourism route, you will visit the Munali Hills Pass historic site. It is situated about 56km north of Mazabuka, a stone cairn 1km along the Munali Pass road. This monument is a commemoration of Dr. David Livingstone’s passage through the hill pass that separates the Lusaka high plateau from the Kafue Flats.
Turn-Pike Turn Off: At Turn Pike junction, we will branch off from the T-2 Kafue road and turn into the T-1 Livingstone road. By the road-side, we will briefly stop-over by the lay-bye to buy some fresh bananas and apples.
In-transit breakfast: You will be served with some breakfast whilst in transit to Mazabuka.
10:20 am: Munali Hills Pass route: You will experience the true Zambian culture of this beautiful country along the way to Mazabuka. The vehicle will wind its way through beautiful landscape, passing through some green commercial farms, traditional African villages and schools along the way to Mazabuka.
11:30 am – Arrive in Mazabuka, dubbed “The Sweetest Town” in Zambia. This is because sugar canes that are processed into edible household sugar are grown on a large scale in Mazabuka.
11:40 am – Depart for Monze, the next town after Mazabuka. You will see large sugar plantations on the way out of Mazabuka town. You will pass a number of small village siding settlements along the way to Monze, approximately 72 kms from Mazabuka.
13:20 pm: Arrive in Monze: – An agriculture town, with an estimated population of 163,578 people.
 
13:30 pm: Eat a sumptuous lunch at Food Royal or the Indian Restaurant or at any other upmarket restaurant in Monze town.
14:00 pm: Travel to Family Safari Lodge on the outskirts of Monze on the way to Choma. There you will see some wild animal in a private reserve
14:30 pm – Depart for Choma, the provincial headquarters of southern province (97.4 kms from Monze). You will pass through small village siding along the way, namely Rusangu, Chisekesi, Pemba, Muzoka, Batoka in that order before reaching Choma (Distance is 285km from Lusaka and 188 km from Livingstone).
Visit the Choma Museum and Craft Center;
Proceed to Kalomo town. Leave for Kalomo town travelling by road down southwards on the original T-1 main tourist road of Zambia (The Livingstone – Lusaka main tourist road).
Visit and tour the Kalundu Mound: About 3 km before reaching Kalomo, on the main road, is a slightly raised mound (a matter of just a few metres) of earth through which the road passes. This marks the site of an Iron-Age village, and the mound is the accumulated debris of many centuries of occupation.
Arrive in Kalomo town, the first colonial capital city of Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). In 1907, Kalomo became the colonial capital centre of what was then known as Northern-Western Rhodesia. In 1911 it became the capital of Northern Rhodesia, what is today called Zambia.
 
Proceed to Livingstone.

Overview of Livingstone
Livingstone is the tourist capital city of Zambia and Adventure capital Centre of Southern Africa. Livingstone town is named after the famous Victorian missionary explorer, Dr David Livingstone who explored this area extensively. Livingstone Town was established in 1905. As a major European settlement, being close to the Zambezi River crossing over to Southern Rhodesia, the town was made the capital of Northern Rhodesia in 1911. The capital was moved to Lusaka in 1935. A major event in 2011 was the installation of the town’s first set of traffic lights!

19: 00 hrs: – Check-in at any good tourism compliant accommodation facility in Livingstone.
20:30 hrs: Relax and spend quality time with your colleagues. Recollect on the exciting events of the just completed travel journey from Lusaka to Livingstone. Sit around the open foyer or inside the bar whilst taking your beverages at your own cost.
21: 30 hrs  – Eat sumptuous dinner.

Morning Game Drive and Rhino Walk Safari in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Livingstone
You will do a morning game drive and Rhino walk safari in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for approximately 2 to 3 hours. This will be done in an open 4×4 safari vehicle with a qualified safari guide by your side at all times.
Narration (information tip): A game drive offers a thrilling experience to have close encounters with 3 of the Big 5 animals. These are Elephant; Buffalo and the near threatened White Rhino with good photographic opportunities while in the safety confines of the vehicle.

Narration (information tip):– This little Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park sanctuary is Zambia’s smallest National park free from predators. This, in combination with it being an area with manmade boundaries, guarantees an abundance of wildlife throughout the year. In addition to the migratory elephants, wildlife including white rhinos, giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck, impala, wildebeest, zebra, bushbuck, warthogs, monkeys, baboons, hippos and crocodiles are residents in the park year round. They inhabit a mix of riverine forest, mopane woodland as well as grassland, which also provides a variety of habitats for numerous bird species.
Within this park is the Old Drift Crossing Point as well as Cemetery, where the first European settlers were buried. Historically, the Old Drift was where ox-wagons were floated across the Zambezi, before there was a bridge.

Rhino Walk Safari
You will experience BREATH TAKING ENCOUNTERS with the endangered White Rhino whilst walking in the untamed Zambian bush of Livingstone’s Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park.
Detailed Program of the Day:
1st Item: Group briefing by the Tour Director. Then enjoy your sumptuous morning breakfast.
06:00 am: Wakeup call and take a bath.
07:30 am: Take your break fast.
08:10 am: You will be picked from your lodge and proceed to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park main entrance. You will be required to pay the necessary park entry fees to enable you enter the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
09:45 am: Commence game viewing within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. You will take a mini break by the shores of Zambezi River.
Rhino Walking Safari
Thereafter, you will proceed to the other side of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for a walking safari to view the White Rhinos. You are encouraged to donate anything either materially or financially to the Wildlife Protection Officers who watch over these few remaining white Rhinos 24/7.
12: 00 am – Exit the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and return back to your lodge for lunch.

12:30 pm – 14:30 pm: Lunch
Afternoon Activity: You will be picked from the reception of the lodge. You will then be transferred for your exciting, relaxing and splendid sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River above the mighty Victoria Falls aboard a medium-sized boat cruise.

Overview of the local Zambezi sub-basin:
This sub-basin is the area in which you will do your sunset cruise excursion on the Zambezi River. Wildlife such as Elephant, hippo, crocodile, bush-buck, various antelope, Buffalo, bee-eaters, fish eagle, zebra and giraffe to name a few are home in this area of the Zambezi River sub-basin and can be seen on the edge of the river. Knowledgeable local guides will accompany you on this cruise and share their knowledge on the local history and wildlife. Cold and warm delicious, well-prepared snacks are served on board.

At the end of the cruise, you will be transferred back to your lodge, marking the end of activities for the day.
19:30 pm: At the end of the day, you will be served with a well-prepared fresh dinner.

08:00 am – Travel to the Victoria Falls for a wonderful waterfalls touring experience.
08:00 am – 10:30 am – Commence touring Victoria Falls; Thereafter visit the local craft market.
10:30 am – 11: 00 am – Travel back to Livingstone city; Visit the Livingstone Museum.
11:00 am – 12:30 pm – Visit and commence touring Livingstone city. You will see the colonial buildings, many shops, banks, local market.
Narration (information tip):– This is an opportunity for you to withdraw cash at the numerous automatic teller machines (ATM cash dispensers) for your spending pleasure in Livingstone. Buy your assortment of drinks at the famous Shoprite shop on your own cost; thereafter, return to the lodge.
13:00 pm 14:30 pm – Lunch break
14:30 pm – 15:30 pm – Take afternoon rest in your room.
15:30 pm – 16:00 pm – Travel from Livingstone to Mukuni village.
16:00 hrs: Next activity: Village Tour to Mukuni Village. Experience the African Cultural Lifestyle in Real-time at Mukuni Village in Livingstone Zambia.
During your tour you will be treated to an African experience where you will get to learn more about the African culture and also interact with people from the village.
At the end of the Mukuni Village Tour, you will be transferred back to your Lodge for dinner and good night rest of sleep.

  1. Non Zambians are excluded from booking and undertaking this tour. Proof of being a Zambian citizen by showing your green national registration card is a mandatory requirement before booking this tour.

Travel Advice:

Kindly travel light but carry adequate clothing for travelling, and for walking around, and game viewing. You must to pack their mosquito repellant as we are still a wet season full of mosquitoes everywhere in Zambia. Masking up in public places is no longer a requirement in Zambia.

Other items to carry include:

  1. Please carry your Zambian National Registration Card (NRC). This is a mandatory requirement for you to be able to enter the Kafue National Park. 
  2. Comfortable walking shoes and open sandals.
  3. Full sleeve less bright colored tops for game viewing excursion.
  4. Umbrellas and if possible a hat to protect them from sunshine just in case it gets hot. Carry jersey just in case it gets cold. Carry also just one or two light blankets in case of a car breakdown.
  5. Small bottle of sanitizers, small bottle of glycerin and personal tower.
  6. Any other personal items for your convenience such as ATM, Visa cards e.t.c. In case you want special wine and drinks to celebrate their holiday, you are better off buying them in Lusaka where it is cheap as compared to Kafue National Park. Getting smaller cooler box will not be a bad idea as well to cool off your drinks. Please you must not forget their toast paste and tooth brushes.

Cancellation and Refunds:

  • 2 months before departure date: Full refund of the money paid.
  • 1 month before departure date: 50% refund of the money already paid.
  • 1 – 15 days before departure date:  30% refund of the money already paid
  • 14 – 1 day before departure date: No refund (Customer loses money already paid)
